Konami, Developers of The ‘PES’ Series, Sign Contract With Manchester United

The developers of the Pro Evolution Soccer series, Konami, have announced they will be partnering with the red side of Manchester after terminating their contract with Liverpool, a deal they signed in 2016. The PES games have always been thought of as second-best in terms of overall gameplay, experience and game design in terms of soccer video games, with EA’s FIFA series dominating the market. As soon as their deal was up with Liverpool, Konami reached out for a deal with Manchester United to be the head of their new game. Manchester United finished sixth in their league last year, the worst finish they’ve had since the 2013-14 season and the second-worst placement in the history of the Premier League for them.

Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay of United has been selected as the official ambassador for PES eFootball. “It’s a real honor for me, and I’m really excited to get the partnership underway,” McTominay said, according to Hardcore Gamer.“I’ve been playing the game a lot and the graphics look absolutely amazing.”

Konami decided to go with United for the undoubtable reputation it has all across the globe, once being one of the most dominant teams in world soccer.

“The best part of the game is you can play with your friends and you can bring a brand-new game into the changing room,” McTominay said, according to Hardcore Gamer. “Not everyone will have played PES 2020, so it’s going to be exciting for the boys and hopefully we’ll get some good matches going.”

The contracted deal means that PES 2020 consumers will be able to play in the Old Trafford stadium, as well as use the new 3D technology that scans the players on the United team to make them more realistic than they have before in PES. This new deal also means Liverpool won’t be used in official competitions hosted by PES, but the team will still be in the game. Liverpool will only be allowed to be used during private PES games.

The new PES game will be out on September 10, 2019 for the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
