‘Madden 26’ Launched With Bugs And Errors Leaving Players Frustrated

Last month, Madden 26 was put out for early release, marking the 37th, not counting spin-offs or mobile versions, release of the Madden NFL franchise.

Following the release of Madden 26, a wave of players reported major issues and bugs, with many saying they couldn’t even access the game. Others claimed that despite having pre-ordered it, the game failed to appear on their consoles at all, leaving fans frustrated.

Madden 26: Fan Reaction

Under the Madden 26 forum, players expressed their irritation with the buggy release, “I am beyond frustrated at this point. EA knew about the “favorites” freeze issue before release, and yet here we are with a game breaking problem that makes franchise mode, one of the main reasons many of us buy Madden, this is unplayable,” a player stated.

Another forum user listed the reported bugs that players have run into: “I’m playing on PS5, but I’ve heard these issues are on other platforms as well.

  1. Sounds cut out randomly at kickoffs.
  2. Freezing and lagging while choosing or scrolling through playbooks.
  3. Raining in every single game.
  4. Crashes.
  5. Random time-outs used.
  6. Bad performance in game and main menu.”

Madden 26: Developer Response

Madden NFL developers acknowledged the malfunctions in Madden 26 in an X post from August 7 from the account @MaddenNFLDirect. They stated, “For our Xbox MVP Bundle owners, we’re aware of an issue some are experiencing where they’re unable to access the game. We’re working closely with Microsoft and plan to resolve this as soon as possible.”

Since the game’s early release, EA and developers have been posting updates about frequent server maintenance up until August 15, a day after Madden 26’s official worldwide launch. On X, @EAHelp posted, “We’ve finished the maintenance on #Madden26, and online services are now back up and running on all platforms. Thanks for your patience!”

On August 16, @MaddenNFLDirect reposted an X statement from @EAMaddenNFL_MCS, “We’re aware of a PAF settings bug and are working to address it. The Kickoff Challenge Ladder is continuing as scheduled. Thank you for your patience and support.” Fans are extremely frustrated with the number of bugs and are flooding the comment section with their complaints, “Patience? This has been a bug for 9 days now,” one user stated. Another commenter added, “You mean the very issue comp players have been complaining about since release?” along with, “Just sad tbh. Billion dollar company…”

Since the August 16 post, there have been no further updates regarding server maintenance, and players are still upset with the outcome of the release.
