Fans Pay Tribute After Alexis Ortega, Latin American Voice Of ‘Spider-Man,’ Dies At 38

The Latin American Spanish voice of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has died at 38. His cause of death has not yet been publicly disclosed. Alexis Ortega passed away on January 24, 2026, in Mexico City, with news of his death breaking days later across various outlets. His death leaves fans of the Marvel universe shocked and in grief.

Born August 31, 1987, in Mexico, Ortega began his dubbing career in 2013 and quickly gained popularity in Latin America. He caught his big break when he landed the role of Holland’s Spider-Man in Latin American Spanish across multiple MCU films, including Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming. He has also landed roles in other major films, including Big Hero 6, Finding Dory, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Cars 3, and has worked with popular YouTuber MrBeast. Aside from voice acting, Ortega has had brief on-screen appearances in Netflix series such as Luis Miguel: The Series and The House of Flowers.

Ortega’s work made global blockbusters like Marvel films feel affectionate and local. His voice became the definitive voice for Spider-Man in Latin America. Voice actors don’t get the credit they deserve for their role in films. They shape childhoods and create new fandoms.

Many fans have shown their gratitude to Ortega on social media, calling him “the voice of a generation.” Dubbing organizations such as ALDA Awards and World Dubbing News have also expressed their condolences. “We regret to announce the sensitive passing of voice actor Alexis Ortega, we send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time,” World Dubbing News said in an Instagram post. Many Spider-Man clips are also being shared in his honor.

With the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for release on July 31, 2026, many fans feel Ortega will leave an irreplaceable void. Fans will forever cherish his voice for the characters he brought to life for fans across Latin America.
