For the past few months, there have been several rumors about an upcoming remastering of the original Mass Effect Trilogy. From gaming journalist Jeff Grubb claiming that we could see the collection arrive at the end of the current financial year to multiple foreign retailers showing listings. EA has all but confirmed that the Mass Effect Trilogy is getting a remastered. Now, Grubb revealed that the remastered collection might not come to the Nintendo Switch at all.
During the Xbox Expansion Podcast, Grubb said, “EA has multiple games coming to Nintendo Switch and Mass Effect is definitely not one of them. Not yet, anyhow. If that happens, it won’t happen in that one-year window that they talked about in their last shareholder meeting.” Grubbs noted that the collection will be called Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.
If all of this is to be believed, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is likely to arrive sometime at the end of the current financial year, which will be in late March 2021.
The last installment in the Mass Effect franchise, Mass Effect: Andromeda, was released in 2017 and received polarizing reviews from major outlets. The most recent game that Bioware has developed, Anthem, was released in 2019 and was met with mediocre reviews from both critics and consumers.
