‘Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’ Content & Release Information

Capcom has released a new trailer for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, a new expansion featuring new monster variants that will able hunt-able, with a guaranteed harder endgame, even at one more max level with your character, according to Gamespot.

With the recent PS4 beta wrapped up, Capcom is set to release the Monster Hunter World expansion later this fall. Check out the new trailer:

Reporters at Game Informer had the opportunity to sit down with the developers at Capcom that made the new expansion pack. They talked about the extreme difficulty that Iceborne brings, saying it was a direct response to fans saying the endgame was too beatable.

“We’ve taken that feedback to heart from players who wanted more difficulty and more challenge and really delivered on that,” said Kaname Fujioka, the executive director and art director, according to PC Gamer. “For the most dedicated players, the endgame is where the most time is spent. It’s important to keep things interesting for the most skilled hunters, but many fans believe this is where (Monster Hunter) World fell short.”

The executive director for Monster Hunter World went on to say the game was brought down in difficulty originally because it would be many new players’ first time in the series, saying now that they are letting the monsters loose for the Iceborne expansion. Bring it on, Fujioka.

According to PC Gamer, the Iceborne story will bring a new dynamic difficulty system that revolves around monster health based on the number of players you are playing with in multiplayer. Fujioka says that the story’s new content will gradually rise in difficulty, solo or with others. Later saying that the fluctuating scale will drop if a player leaves a quest mid-hunt.

“We’ve taken great care to make sure that players who are just transitioning straight from World have no fear and have an easy time of getting into the game and enjoying themselves,” said Daisuke Ichihara, the Iceborne game director, according to IGN.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is set to launch on consoles on September 6, while it will be available for PC later that winter, with no official release date out yet. You will need a copy of the base game in order to play the Iceborne expansion pack, or you can buy the eventual $60 master edition that contains both necessary requirements.
