New Details On ‘Call Of Duty’ Showcase In September, Here’s What To Expect

As the summer nears a close, the gaming community knows that whatever comes out in the next few months will make or break legacies, studios and gaming as a whole.

Activision Blizzard is well aware of this and has big news ahead of their latest event.

Call of Duty: Next is a livestream event from the studio that will highlight information on Call of Duty: Warzone 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Mobile.

Activision has hyped the event up calling it “an era-defining franchise event showcasing the immediate future of Call of Duty” on the Call of Duty blog.

The event includes information on Modern Warfare 2, the reveal of multiplayer in MW2, streamers playing the game live, unannounced surprises and more.

Following the event will be the release of two open betas for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The betas will focus on the game’s multiplayer mode and will release in two intervals. The first beta will be available from September 16-20 and will be a PlayStation exclusive, while the second will release September 22-26 and will be available on all platforms with crossplay compatibility.


Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was confirmed in April of this year after years of rumors that its 2019 predecessor Modern Warfare would be getting a sequel. Players were told to expect an “all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode.”

This along with promises of a revamped and redone battle royals, a new engine and a new Warzone game amplified the anticipation for the game. The game was also shown as part of E3 releases and extended campaign gameplay was provided to fans.

Both the sequel and the Warzone game will be developed by Infinity Ward.

This release also marks a change to the Call of Duty franchise as many speculate that the series may not continue with an annual release.

According to reports, 2023’s COD game will be released in 2024.

Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, many also were wary of the availability of the famed franchise on different platforms, but Blizzard has come out and said that they are committed to keeping the next three Call of Duty games multiplatform.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release on October 28.
