Nintendo 2DS Is Getting Its Colors Swapped Next Month

Mario’s younger brother, Luigi, has had a hard life. He was born into the role of second banana, and as such, he has endured incessant belittlement and neglect.

Mario, as a consequence of their brotherly love, wanted to do something to boost his long-suffering sibling’s self-esteem, so he sent Luigi an email leaving his bro in charge of the Nintendo 2DS factory for the day! This is a very real and very crucial position, but all Luigi had to do was enter the correct code.

Luigi, living up to his reputation, failed to enter the correct code. While hysteria immediately claimed the factory’s staff, the tragedy was thankfully cut short because Mario was thrilled with the change, and so were Nintendo fans across the globe!

The old look for the Nintendo 2DS featured a red or blue side with a black faceplate, but the pretty new look will feature a red or blue faceplate with a black stripe on the side! In other words, more color will enter your life! Indeed, the press release phrased it perfectly:

This new color swap will be remembered alongside other such innovations as jelly and peanut butter, or roll and rock.

The old Nintendo 2DS aesthetic will be phased out, with the new color scheme replacing it in November. However, a 2DS will still cost $79.99, and a pre-installed copy of Mario Kart 7 will still be bundled in select packages.

The Nintendo 2DS is a cheaper alternative to the Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS handhelds. The 2DS lacks the 3D effect of its big brothers, as it was made with younger gamers in mind. Regardless, anything that’s playable on a Nintendo 3DS is playable on a Nintendo 2DS, so this could be the perfect opportunity to introduce your siblings into the Nintendo 3DS family!

Will you pick up a Nintendo 2DS?
