Nintendo World Championships 2017 Tryouts Begin This Month

One of Nintendo’s recurring events is about to begin. So, if you consider yourself to be reasonably skilled, you should aim for the gold in the Nintendo World Championships 2017!

TRY OUT FOR THE NINTENDO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017

Nintendo’s inaugural World Championship happened back in 1990, and it took until E3 2015 for them to resurrect the idea. This year’s tournament will formally occur at the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom on October 7. However, to qualify for the big event, you’ll need to prove your mettle at a participating Best Buy.

Participants will be split into two groups: 12 and Younger, or 13 and Older. Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS will be the platform for which you’ll be judged. Younger contestants will “play as Mario on the Nintendo DS ‘Luigi’s Mansion’ course using Standard Kart, Standard Wheels and Super Glider.” Conversely, older players get to “play as Bowser on the Game Boy Advance ‘Bowser Castle 1’ course using Standard Kart, Standard Wheels and Super Glider.”

Naturally, those with the best Time Trial records in each group at each store will move on to the World Championship. More details regarding the event will come later, although entrants should be prepared to “battle their way through a variety of games.”

Additionally, two of Nintendo’s biggest titles for the year, Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch and Metroid: Samus Returns for the Nintendo 3DS, will be demoed at these Best Buys. My Nintendo members will obtain Platinum Points for attending, too.

As per Nintendo’s press release, these are the location that’ll host the tryouts:
