Playstation Now: July 2021 Rundown

Playstation has announced seven new additions to Playstation Now for July 2021. The new titles include Red Dead Redemption 2, Nioh 2, God of War, Judgement, Moving Out, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Nascar Heat 5. The games went live for players on July 6.

Adam Michel, senior manager of game services content at Sony Interactive Entertainment, made the announcement in a July 5 Playstation Blog post. Michel welcomed six titles that were brand new to the service, along with God Of War, which had been on Playstation Now in the past.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the ever-popular open-world western produced by Rockstar Games. It is tied with Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 as the highest-rated Playstation 4 and Xbox One game on Metacritic. The game boasts a lively world, compelling story and thrilling gameplay. Red Dead: Online is also included for Playstation Now. Red Dead Redemption 2 is simply a must-play title, as it headlines the July additions for Playstation Now.

Nioh 2, developed by Team Ninja and Kou Shibusawa, is a Samurai RPG with supernatural elements.  The game begins in 16th century Japan and takes place before Nioh, the previous game in the series. Players can employ a variety of weapons and skills to defeat enemies known as Yōkai. Nioh received very favorable reviews for its challenging yet rewarding gameplay.

God of War will notably make a return to Playstation Now. This title featured a new take on the God of War series, focusing on Norse mythology instead of Greek. God of War was a massive success among critics, who praised the story and combat system. God of War was also the Golden Joystick’s and the Game Award’s Game of the Year in 2018. This is another must-play title for Playstation Now.

Judgment follows private detective Takayuki Yagami as he investigates a number of killings in Tokyo, Japan. The game, produced by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, is a spinoff to their Yakuza series of titles. Players will engage in combat, hunt down suspects and evidence and present their findings in court. The game was received well in general and is a solid choice, especially for fans of the Yakuza series.

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 does not have a very complicated premise. As the title might suggest, it is the official video game for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The game includes 15 events and recreated locations from Tokyo. There is also multiplayer support for this title.

Nascar Heat 5 is another official sports video game. Players can gun for the 2020 NASCAR Cup in this stock car racing game. The game features 39 real tracks, along with all official NASCAR teams, drivers and cars. The game features online and local multiplayer as well.

Moving Out is a lighthearted “moving simulator” with an emphasis on physics. The game allows for solo or cooperative play as players complete moving jobs throughout Packmore (the game’s town). Moving Out was released in April of 2020, and has received positive reviews for the most part. This simple game provides a playful and enjoyable experience to Playstation users.

Playstation Now’s July lineup is sure to satisfy players as it features absolute classics along with more playful, lighthearted titles.
