‘Starfield’ Release Delayed to 2023, Microsoft Apologizes For Delay

Starfield fans will have to wait just a bit longer.

Bethesda’s long-awaited RPG has delayed its release of the popular game from November of this year to the first half of 2023, they announced in a Tweet. Redfall, from Arkane Austin, was supposed to drop this summer but it has been pushed back, too.

Starfield and Redfall are just the latest games to see delays in the wake of the pandemic. Most games’ release dates have been postponed with offices being shut down due to health safety concerns.

“While I fully support giving teams time to release these great games when they are ready, we hear the feedback,” Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer wrote in a Tweet, acknowledging fans’ frustration.

“Delivering quality & consistency is expected, we will continue to work to better meet those expectations,” he added.

Starfield will be the game developer’s first major release since 2015’s release of Fallout 4. Bethesda has also been acquired by Microsoft, and the Starfield and Redfall releases will be the first made exclusively for the Xbox and to be immediatly available on Xbox Game Pass.
