Sylveon, the final evolution of Eevee, debuted in Pokémon GO on May 25. Sylveon is a fairy type and was added so late as a part of the Luminous Legends Y event. This event was meant to commemorate the recent inclusion of Legendary Pokémon Yveltal in the mobile game. Eevee had seven other available evolutions before this point. These include Leafeon, Glaceon, Espeon, Umbreon, Vapoeron, Jolteon and Flareon.
Pokémon GO’s Twitter account explained that the official way to acquire this evolution is by “earning hearts when it’s your buddy.” This means that you will need to make the Pokémon your buddy and spend time with it, allowing you to accumulate hearts. The game’s community, however, has figured an alternate way to achieve this evolution. This trick involves giving Eevee a certain nickname. A similar process worked to produce the other evolutions of Eevee.
The name required to evolve Eevee into Sylveon is “Kira”. Players can ensure that they are evolving Eevee into Sylveon by checking if Sylveon’s silhouette is present on the evolve button. If this is not present, the player will receive a random evolution of Eevee. This trick is only good for one-time use. If players want to evolve another Sylveon they must use the official heart method.
This loophole was uncovered by players in New Zealand on Tuesday morning according to an article by The Gamer.
Sylveon’s debut marks the last week of the Luminous Legend’s event, which has been occurring for most of May.
