The movie Tetris, inspired by the 1984 video game, will be the first part of a trilogy sci-fi project.
Producer Larry Kasanoff confirmed the rumors. “Purely because the story we conceived is so big, ” he told Empire. “This isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story.”
The trilogy is currently known as “Untitled Tetris Sci-Fi Project” on the producer’s IMDB page, it will focus on the theme of creating order out of chaos.
“We’re not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie,” said Kasanoff, “but it’s great that people think so. It sets the bar rather low!”
He cautions, “I guarantee you it’s not what you think,” continuing, “No-one has come remotely close to figuring out what we’re doing.”
Kasanoff has experience converting classic games into films as he did with Mortal Kombat.
There is no set date for filming, but casting for the movie has begun. There is said to be an $80 million for the project.
