Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, a crossover developed by Team Ninja, originally launched in 2015 as an arcade-exclusive, but a PlayStation 4 re-release came in 2018. It’s a fighting game that brings characters from the numbered Final Fantasy titles (plus two side games) together. As publisher Square Enix announced in its Tuesday live-stream, the latest icon to join the fray is Tifa Lockhart. She’s the third warrior hailing from Final Fantasy VII to join Dissidia, following protagonist Cloud Strife and villain Sephiroth.
As demonstrated in her trailer, Tifa will be classified as a speed-type combatant, fighting with punches, dashes and energy blasts that’d make any Dragon Ball fighter blush. Tifa will hit Dissidia Final Fantasy NT on July 3 in Japan. It’s currently unknown if she will join the roster on that day internationally as well or if she’ll come later.
Series fans will also be able to reunite with Tifa Lockhart in the forthcoming episodic Final Fantasy VII remake, the first part of which launches next March. Final Fantasy director Testuya Nomura recently spoke with Famitsu about the character’s updated attire in that game.
