Fortnite (Epic Games)
Epic Games has dolled out the latest update for their multi-platform hit Fortnite, spicing up the battle royale game with a new vehicle and other ameliorations.
Building upon the recent 8.00 update, the biggest addition to the war-zone is the new single-sitter Baller vehicle. It’s situated at Expedition Outposts and campsites, and the unwieldy ride has a grappling mechanism and protects those who commandeer it from opposing gunfire. However, the Baller has finite heath and will break upon the depletion of its 300 hit points.
Some of the weapons have been adjusted as well, specifically regarding their rarities. The common iteration of the Infantry Rifle has been removed while the Heavy Assault Rifle has conversely been downgraded to Common/Rare/Epic status.
Vending machines have also been made more accessible. Whereas players were formerly required to gather materials to use a vending machine, now players can freely redeem any item they want from one. The tool-dispensing machine will disappear after one use, however.
In terms of other noteworthy changes, crossplay has been streamlined; Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players have been pooled together, as have mobile and Nintendo Switch players. Additionally, six outfits – Scarlet Defender, Elite Agent, Renegade Raider, Waypoint, Overtaker and Whiteout – gain new styles, while select items now trigger new, better animations.
