WATCH: Epic Games Releases Demo Video For ‘Unreal Engine 5’

Epic Games released Unreal Engine 4 eight years ago. This week, the company announced that they have been working on Unreal Engine 5, which is expected to be released in preview in early 2021, with a more full release later next year.

To announce the new game, a demo video was released on the Unreal Engine YouTube page, explaining what fans can expect from Unreal Engine 5. The game is expected to be available on both the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 as both consoles are able to support better resolutions and frame rates, better than any gaming PC, according to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney.

Unreal Engine 5’s newest features center around two new products, Nanite and Lumen. Nanite will allow for more detailed scenery because of how quickly things render, while Lumen will allow for more life-like lighting and greater details in various aspects in the game.

Epic Games, which also is responsible for Fortnite, has said that the new version of Unreal Engine will have the potential to be played across multiple platforms, whether it be on console, PC, or on mobile devices, similar to Fortnite.
