Blizzard’s Overwatch has added a new playable character after teasing him this past weekend. On Monday morning, Blizzard announced an old scientist from the Netherlands, the villainous Sigma, after showing some math-based trailers and releasing information on his backstory.

Sigma was teased originally when Blizzard put out a strange tweet regarding a math puzzle that hinted at the character.

According to Shack News, Sigma’s backstory is explained as “the 31st Overwatch hero, Sigma is a kind and brilliant scientist who has been irreparably changed by an experiment gone wrong, gaining the ability to manipulate gravity in the process. During that tragic experiment Sigma sustained serious psychological damage, deemed a threat to humanity and locked away for years in a secret government facility. He was eventually freed by Talon and used as a living weapon.”

Beyond his origin story, Blizzard revealed his moveset and what he can bring to the battlefield. Sigma has gravity-based techniques, with scientific and tech-like defenses and attacks. Sigma contains hyper spheres, which are two gravity chargers that explodes upon a short duration that deal large damages in small areas. Next, he contains an experimental barrier, which launches a barrier in front of him that floats upon his area of choosing. He can pick up the barrier whenever. Sigma also holds a kinetic grasp. The kinetic grasp stops all incoming projectiles when activated in midair and converts them into the using of a shield. The next ability Sigma contains is the accretion, which helps Sigma contain massive amounts of debris and he shoots it at enemies to knock them down. To finish with his moves, let’s talk about his ultimate: he has a Gravitic Flux, which helps Sigma manipulate gravity to have nearby enemies lifted off the ground and slammed back down.

Sigma is available now for Overwatch, and will be an option for the Quick Play and Arcade modes before he is further practiced with players before entering the competitive scene.
