In comparison to November and December, October is a quiet month for games. Even so, there’s still some great stuff coming out this month. Here’s some games to keep an eye out for this month.

Destiny 2: New Light
Released on: October 1
Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One
Released alongside the newest expansion, Shadowkeep, New Light offers a streamlined MMO experience to catch you up with where Destiny 2 is currently, while making sure you don’t miss any of the fun stuff on the way. If you have any interest in Destiny, you should definitely check it out, as there’s no better price than free, which is the exact price of Destiny 2: New Light. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep DLC

The first DLC of Year 3 takes you back to the moon in search of new activities, loot, and story content fans have been pining for since Forsaken released over a year ago. The expansion will run you $34.99 on all platforms, while a Digital Deluxe Edition is also available for $59.99, which comes with a Season 4 pass, an Erin themed emote, Ghost shell, and emblem. Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Another entry into the long-running Tom Clancy franchise, Breakpoint is a narrative sequel to Wildlands with a similar gameplay style. Breakpoint is a third-person tactical shooter in an open world environment with a focus on survival and exploration. The game will also feature competitive multiplayer and end of game content like raids. Breakpoint will be $59.99 on all platforms upon release. You can pre-order it on any system by starting here.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
Releases on: October 8
Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch
Created by some of the former personnel who created Banjo-Kazooie 20 years prior, the sequel to Yooka-Laylee comes out soon with a different gameplay style in comparison to the the first. Yooka-Laylee is now more 2.5D as it incorporates side-scrolling platforming and top-down puzzle solving in overworked areas. This is a stark difference compared to the 3D platform adventure that Yooka-Laylee 1 used. Yooka-Laylee 2 will be $26.99 on Steam at launch and $29.99 on other platforms. Indivisible
Releases on: October 8

From the makers of Skullgirls, a fighting game known for its beautiful hand-drawn animation, Indivisible is an upcoming action-RPG platformer inspired by southeast Asian mythology and other cultures. The game also features animation by Studio Trigger and Titmouse, with the opening animation directed by Yoh Yoshinari of Little Witch Academia. If this game will be anything, it’s going to be visually breathtaking. Indivisible will be $35.99 on Steam at launch and $39.99 on other platforms. You can pre-purchase it on Steam here.

Overwatch Legendary Edition

Available on: Nintendo Switch
Blizzard’s hit FPS MOBA  is making its way to the Nintendo Switch soon. Play as your favorite heroes in the team based shooter that first came out in 2016, now on the go. Overwatch will be 39.99 on the Switch and with it you can get; A redeemable code for a 3-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership, five Legendary Hero skins, five Epic Hero skins, and five Origin hero skins. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition

The 2015 Game of the Year, The Witcher 3, also will become portable as it makes its way onto the Switch in two weeks. The Witcher 3 is a story-driven open world adventure set in a dark fantasy universe created by CD Projekt. The game will be $59.99 on the Nintendo Switch and can be pre-purchased here.

Little Town Hero
Releases on: October 16
Available on: Nintendo Switch
From the makers of Pokemon, Little Town Hero is an RPG  set in an isolated village on the edge of the world. The game features a challenging battle system more reliant on strategy than complacency, a compact story for players on the go, and a soundtrack by Toby Fox, composer and creator of Undertale. Little Town Hero will be $24.99 and can be pre-purchased here.

WWE 2K20
Releases on: October 22
Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One
The long running WWE franchise gets a new installment with a heavier focus on the female stars for this edition. There is a female MyCareer mode, which is a first for the series, Becky Lynch is on the cover along with Roman Reigns, which marks the first time a female wrestler has been on the cover, and the Showcase mode will revolve around the four horsewomen of the WWE. The Outer Worlds
Releases on: October 25
Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch
From the creators of Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds is a game not dissimilar from the best things about the Fallout franchise. An FPS RPG, players find out about a world in space where planets are being monopolized by massive corporations and participate in the world, each decision they make affecting the outcome of the story. The Outer Worlds will be $59.99 on all platforms. You can pre-purchase the game on PC, Ps4, or Xbox One starting here. The game will be available on Steam in 2020 and on the Switch at a tentative date.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare
Releases on: October 25
Available on: PC, Xbox One, Ps4
The newest Call of Duty takes a more realistic approach than the series ever has and brings back a campaign mode made to emulate better the stress of being a soldier and having to discern what is and isn’t a threat at a moment’s notice. The game looks to go back to its roots, possibly making social commentary on the aspects of war and being solely grounded in reality. The game will be $59.99 on all platforms. MediEvil
Releases on: October 25
Available on: PS4
The PS1 classic action-adventure hack and slash is being remastered for a much larger audience than ever before. This is the series’ first game since 2005 and is sure to be a hit right before Halloween, considering the game’s medieval and spooky style. MediEvil will be $29.99 on launch and a PS4 exclusive you can pre-purchase here.

Luigi’s Mansion 3
Releases on: October 31
Available on: Nintendo Switch
Releasing on Halloween, the third installment of Luigi’s Mansion brings back the formula that the original created, taking place in a giant hotel and seems more like a successor to the franchise than Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon was. Explore a new area and save Mario and his friends one more time as Luigi by sucking up ghosts with your trusty vacuum and Professor E. Gadd by your side. Sounds like a good way to spend Halloween.
