A Look At Take-Two’s Indie Developer, Private Division’s Upcoming Releases

Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar (a studio known for the Grand Theft Auto series and both Red Dead Redemption installments), announced they would be publishing a new developing label solely for indie games. At the time, any monster company that would be willing to help indie developers was big news. Most of these indie developers struggle to get the funding and support they need for their originally envisioned projects. Their indie company, Private Division, supported by Take-Two, recently announced four games they were working on. According to Gamespot, one of the games won’t be under the Private Division label anymore.

Lets take a look at the new releases Private Division is working on.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is an exciting title from Patriec Desilets, the creator of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed. The game is set to release on all major consoles and PC, and features third-person survival gameplay where you’re a monkey in a primitive world set 10,000 years ago. It’s an interesting, original concept. Check out over 10 minutes of gameplay footage here:

The next title, Disintegration, is created by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto. The teaser seems to show off a sci-fi setting with ships in space. “The opportunity to create not only a new game, but this entire studio has been exhilarating,” Lehto said, according to Gamespot. “It is great to be able to share what this amazing team has been working on, and we can’t wait to introduce this new game that our team is building to the world next month.”

Outer Worlds is perhaps the most anticipated release from Obsidian Entertainment. This release is from the original Fallout developers Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain, who came together after leaving Bethesda. Narrative designer Dan McPhee, speaking about their upcoming game, said, “Even our play-testers are eager to just jump back in and try a different thing and keep going,” he said, according to Daily Star.

McPhee later goes on to say that the game has a “static” ending like the critically-acclaimed Fallout New Vegas. There are plenty of in-depth NPCs and factions in the game, as well as replayability once you finish the campaign.

Project Wight, or Darkborn, was set to be an action-fantasy game from David Goldfarb, the lead designer of Battlefield 3 and Payday 2. They have since moved onto an unannounced developer.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is set to release on August 27, 2019, while Disintegration is slated to have a full reveal on August 19 at the Gamescom Convention at Cologne, Germany. Outer Worlds has an announced release date: October 25.
