Amazon Announces Luna, A New Gaming Streaming Service

Google Stadia is about to get some competition in the streaming wars, as Amazon has announced last week that it will be creating its own cloud gaming streaming service, Luna. The service will feature “various gaming” channels, with “Luna+” offering a plethora of games including titles like Resident Evil 7, Control, A Plague Tale: Innocence and Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair. Luna+ will cost $5.99 a month and offer 4K Resolution at 60 FPS for select devices, while also allowing subscribers to play on two devices simultaneously.

The other channel confirmed by Amazon to be available on Luna will be for Ubisoft, allowing subscribers to access several titles from the company. No specific games were announced to be on the service. “This is the first of multiple Luna game channels in development, where customers can play games from their favorite publishers and genres,” said an Amazon spokesperson.

Amazon’s Luna will also feature integration with Twitch, with Amazon noting, “players will see Twitch streams for games in the service, and from Twitch, they’ll be able to instantly start playing Luna games.” Finally, Amazon announced an Alexa-enabled Luna controller that will connect directly to Fire TV devices, which will decrease latency between the game and control input. Pricing for its controller will start at $49.99. Luna will also support PC and keyboard, as well as any Bluetooth game controllers.

Currently, Amazon is allowing sign-ups for early access.
