AMD Will Announce New Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Card Next Week

AMD will be announcing the newest member of the Radeon RX 6000 series family on March 3. AMD users can look forward to info on several Radeon features like raytracing, RDNA 2, Infinity Cache and FidelityFX.

As part three of AMD’s Where Gaming Begins video series, the tech company will talk more about their RDNA 2 graphics architecture, which is used to power desktop PCs and next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.

RDNA 2 architecture cards are significantly more power efficient than competition, and prior generation AMD cards. AMD writes on their website that RNA 2 cards run 54% more efficiently (perf/watt) than their previous RDNA which is already 50% more efficient than GCN architecture chips.

Enthusiasts can also look forward to more info about AMD’s “Infinity Cache” system, which allows significantly higher performance by interacting with all of a card’s internal cores at once. Keeping with the theme set by RDNA 2, cards working with Infinity Cache can deliver up to 3.25 times usable bandwidth compared to traditional cache cards.

While AMD hasn’t said specifically how powerful the new RX 6000 card will be, it’s expected to be a viable competitor to the Nvidia 3060.
