Bethesda seems to continue to be making amends for their lackluster release of Fallout 76. After plummeting in sales compared to their other AAA titles, Bethesda announced at their E3 conference the development of a battle royale mode and the inclusion of NPC’s in the open-world. Now, the studio has announced plans to help beginners ease into the game compared to the original, brutal starting point.
Bethesda has announced their plans for starting players just entering the wasteland. They are going to give the players 50 percent longer to spoil, to eliminate the issue of constant hunger while trying to start the game. They are also implementing a reduced cost to fast travel for starting players that are under level 25. 25 and above will have the initial cost that the game started with. They are adding a higher disease resistance for players under level 15 to, again, help players in the start of the game obtain a foothold in their journey. To finish, they are limiting the encounters with higher level players in the forest to help greenhorns avoid being easy targets for those higher level players poaching for easy XP.
“We’re looking to make a few adjustments to help new and low-level characters have more gradual introductions to some of the game’s mechanics and challenges,” Bethesda put in a recent blog post, according to Kotaku.
Different implementations in the game’s latest update include a new way of how the power armor works. The HUD can be disabled and you can activate stealth while being in the suit.
There are other simple necessities that are tough to come by in the early game, such as Stimpaks, Rad-Aways and cooked meat. If you’re to be successful throughout the game, having an abundance of those supplies is essential to survive in the wasteland.
