Ken Levine, the mastermind behind the original Bioshock and its second sequel, Bioshock Infinite, has been silent about his next project for years now. After the release of Bioshock Infinite’s second piece of DLC, Burial at Sea Part 2, Levine announced that the studio behind Infinite, Irrational Games (later rebranded as Ghost Story Games), would be winding down its staff to work on more narrative-focused games. Six years later, and the only details about Levine’s next project is that it will be “an immersive sim.” While we still don’t know what Levine’s game will be about, we do know that it has officially entered the “later stages of development.”
The update comes from a recent job posting from Take-Two Interactive, which owns both Rockstar Games and 2K, for a producer role. The description reads, “We’re working on a new immersive sci-fi game with RPG elements. We haven’t announced any details yet because we are still in later stages of production.” The post also states that Ghost Story Games has grown from 15 people to around 35 workers currently involved with the project.
While we still don’t quite know what Levine’s next project will be about, that won’t stop us from getting excited about the next game Levine is working on.
Bioshock Infinite was released back on March 26, 2013, to critical and commercial success. A new game in the series is in the works but will not have Levine involved.
