Borderlands 3 (Gearbox)
Many current-gen titles are making their next-gen debut, and one of those games will be Borderlands 3. Gearbox Software, the developers behind the third installment in the RPG franchise that kicked off the “Looter-Shooter” trend, has announced in a blog post that the game will arrive on next-gen systems free of charge, as long as you own the PS4 or Xbox One version of the game.
“The next-gen consoles bring a new level of graphical fidelity to the Borderlands universe, and Borderlands 3 is fully optimized to take advantage of their processing power,” Gearbox states in the blog post. The company promises that the game will run at 4K at 60FPS across all platforms and modes of play, with support for up to four-player split-screen play.
Making the deal even sweeter is the news that Gearbox will allow the current-gen version to transfer your save files over to the next-gen machines. Finally, Gearbox teased some upcoming content that would be announced during The Borderlands Show on October 29, so stay tuned for that presentation.
Though Borderlands 3 was released last year on September 13, the game has enjoyed a ton of post-launch DLC support. Luckily, all DLC will be made available alongside the base game. Here’s hoping that the Handsome Jack Collection will arrive on next-gen as well.
