CD Projekt Red Could Face Lawsuit Over “Misrepresentation”

CD Projekt Red, the developer behind The Witcher series, could be facing a lawsuit over the marketing of their most recent game, Cyberpunk 2077.  The studio has been in a lot of hot water due to Cyberpunk 2077 launching with a ton of technical issues, including bugs, glitches and poor framerate on the PS4 and Xbox One version.

Now, CD Projekt Red could be facing a potential lawsuit. As reported by The New York Times, lawyers and investors in Warsaw, Poland, where CD Projekt Red is located, are “contemplating a class-action lawsuit against the company” for what one of the lawyers described as “potential criminal misrepresentation in order to receive financial benefits.” Prior to the release of Cyberpunk 2077, little was shown of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, with most footage released by CDPR, was of the PC version of the game.

Additionally, as part of a review embargo, websites were only allowed to use gameplay footage that was provided by CD Projekt Red. Finally, many of the developers at CDPR are furious with the company’s mismanagement of Cyberpunk 2077, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schrier, who interviewed many staff members. Many of the answers the developers received were described as “vague and noncommittal.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC
