Cyberpunk 2077 is currently the most-anticipated game for the remainder of the year. After an already packed year filled with amazing games and the upcoming next generation of consoles, many were hoping to get their hands on the latest game from CD Projekt Red, the same studio behind the award-winning The Witcher series. In an announcement on their official social media account, CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be delayed for another month.
“The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test 9 versions of it,” CD Projekt co-founders Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwinski said in the statement. “We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.” Cyberpunk 2077 will now be released on December 10.
While many would believe this would reduce crunch work that the studio is mandating to finish the game, that doesn’t seem to be the case, according to journalist Jason Schrier. Schrier tweeted that a CDPR developer told him CDPR “recently that they’d just clocked a 100-hour week,” while a former dev said to him that one of his former colleagues, “physically ill.”
Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia, while also being playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
