‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Release Pushed Back … Again In Order To Fix Bugs

For fans excited to play Cyberpunk 2077, you are going to have to wait a little bit longer to do so as the release of the game has been pushed back two months and two days from September 17 to November 19.

In a statement issued by CD Projekt Red’s co-founder and head of the studio, Marcin Iwiński and Adam Badowski, that was posted on the game’s Twitter page explained the reason for the delay. “ ‘Ready when it’s done’ is not just a phrase we say because it sounds right, it’s something we live by even when we know we’ll take the heat for it. At the time we are writing these words, Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both content and gameplay-wise. But with such an abundance of content and complex systems interweaving with each other, we need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out and we will spend the additional time doing exactly that.”

This November release has some fans speculating as to whether or not the reason for the delay was because of the arrival of next-gen consoles this holiday season in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Fans feel that the game will be a launch title for one, if not both of these consoles. There is no release date announced for either console, but as Matt Futter wrote to The Post, “Last generation, Sony and Microsoft launched one week apart. I expect that it will be about the same for this generation. Additionally, Microsoft has a history of partnership with CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 3 was shown off on Microsoft’s E3 2013 stage (and it was one of the major highlights). Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the handful of currently confirmed third-party Smart Delivery games.”

The studio said back in January that they wanted the game to be the best it possibly can be, hopefully the extra two months will allow them to do just that.
