‘Destruction All-Stars’ Delayed, Will Be PlayStation Plus Game

One of the launch title exclusives for the PS5, Destruction All-Stars, has been delayed to February 2021. Announced on the official PlayStation Blog website, Peter Smith, Director of Product Development at PlayStation, announced the game’s delay, and that it would be free for those subscribed to PlayStation Plus. An exact date for the game’s release has yet to be revealed.

Originally, Destruction All-Stars was priced at $70 for both physical and digital distribution. “Destruction All-Stars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world. We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members?”

Smith also says that a new trailer for Destruction All-Stars would be revealed next week. Those who pre-ordered Destruction All-Stars will be eligible for a full refund, regardless of where you purchased the game. “This may be disappointing news for some of you who were looking to play the game at launch, but we hope you understand the decision,” Smith wrote.

First announced in June, Destruction All-Stars looked to be a spiritual successor to the Twisted Metal series, emphasizing car-combat gameplay, albeit much less violent and with a much more colorful visual style, similar to that of games like Overwatch and Apex Legends. While Destruction All-Stars is delayed, PlayStation still has plenty of exclusive games for gamers to play at launch, including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Demon’s Souls.

The PlayStation 5 will launch in the U.S. on November 12.
