The voice acting community suffered a loss on January 7, 2021, as voice actor Brad Venable passed away at the age of 43. Originally, a cause of death was not given, but Venable’s wife has permitted his colleagues to share news of her husband’s recent passing. Over the weekend, it was later confirmed by voice actor Kyle McCarley (Nier Automata) that Venable died from a heart attack and tested positive for COVID-19 the day before his death.
Within the first 12 hours, many actors in the video game and anime industry expressed their sorrow over the loss of their dear friend and co-worker via Twitter, including the likes of Kira Buckland (Nier Automata), Allegra Clark (Fire Emblem: Three Houses), Courtenay Taylor (Mass Effect 2 and 3) and many more.
Venable was best known for his work in games such as Devil May Cry V, where he portrayed Griffon, and starred in games like Ace Combat 7, Serious Sam 4, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Desperados III, and many more. He also starred in several anime series, such as Dragon Ball Super, Hunter X Hunter, One Piece and Attack on Titan. Additionally, since 2018, he was the narrator for the Honest Game Trailers series on YouTube.
