Demos have slowly been going the way of the dodo. While there are a few game studios still producing them, most are relegated to smaller games or are used as pre-order incentives to get early access to parts of the game, as seen in titles like Crash 4 and Tony Hawk: Pro Skater 1+2. Even those released only last less than half-an-hour, usually containing a small slice of gameplay to catch your interest.
Rarely will a demo be around the same length as an actual game. That’s what Square Enix has done with the recently released demo of Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition. Released last year on the Nintendo Switch, Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition contains new content not featured in the original game, such as new story scenarios starring party members and an orchestrated soundtrack, as well as several gameplay changes. Lasting over 10 hours long, the demo will give players an early look into this 60+ hour-long RPG.
The best news is that all your progress will be carried over, regardless of where you left off. Once you’ve finished, you’ll be rewarded with special items that will carry over to the main game.
Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition will launch on PS4 and Xbox One on December 10.
