The new live-action Sonic the Hedgehog is being delayed after tons of backlash from fans complaining how Sonic looks. Our beloved blue hedgehog had some odd features that didn’t resemble the blue blur whatsoever, such as him having teeth, long legs and his face not looking like the favored video game character. The film’s director Jeff Fowler heard Sonic fans loud and clear, announcing that he and his team are delaying the movie until 2020 to fix Sonic’s look.
Passionate fans all over the internet have shown Paramount Pictures how it’s done, with some fans even doing tutorials on their iPads that honestly look much better than the live-action Sonic from the new feature film.
To terrify die-hard Sonic fans even more, some artists have been posting their own designs of a live-action Sonic, purposely making the blue blur look even worse than Paramount Picture’s design. This upcoming image is a fan-made design, and has gone viral to make fun of the studio’s attempt at Sonic in their new feature film, Sonic the Hedgehog:
Despite Sonic’s look, fans have criticized Fowler and his team for other choices being made in the trailer, as an unfitting “Gangsta’s Paradise“ by Coolio can be overheard being played throughout the trailer. Fans calling for a CG makeover point at Warner Brother’s new live-action movie Detective Pikachu staring Ryan Reynolds as a clear adaptation on how to make a video game character into a live-action movie.
Fowler has vowed to “fix” Sonic’s look, despite most likely being in the post-production stages of the movie.
Fowler has announced the movie’s new release date, February 14, 2020. Ben Schwartz will be voicing Sonic, while Jim Carrey will play Doctor Eggman, the movie’s antagonist. Despite the criticism Fowler has been receiving, he has experience in the field. He won an Academy Award for his short film Gopher Broke for Best Animated Film.
