‘Gears 5’ Enjoys Record-Breaking Launch For Microsoft

Gears of War is undoubtedly one of the biggest IPs in Microsoft Game Studios’ arsenal, something that was reaffirmed by Gears 5‘s unprecedentedly strong launch. Gears 5 hit storefronts worldwide on September 10, with over 3 million players logging in to enjoy the game. That’s more than double of what its predecessor, Gears of War 4, enjoyed during its equivalent timeframe.

Gears 5 set a record high among all the games the Xbox manufacturer has published this generation. It’s also the highest number of players participating in a Microsoft title’s launch since Halo 4 graced the Xbox 360 back in 2012. However, Gears 5‘s number was enriched by the four-day early access window, exclusive to those who purchased the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition or are subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate. Those who spent extra on either could play the game as early as September 6.
