One of the biggest changes made to God of War in the 2018 game was the drop from 60 FPS to only 30 FPS. While most players didn’t mind or notice the change, those who played past entries in the God of War series were used to playing games that targeted 60 FPS. Even if you had a PS4 Pro and chose the option to prioritized framerate, 2018’s God of War could only reach around 40 FPS.
If playing God of War at 30 FPS was a turnoff for you, we ‘ve got some good news if you’re getting a PS5. God of War will now have the ability to run at 60 FPS. Announced by Sony Santa Monica Studio on their Twitter account, the company promises that God of War will run at 60 FPS. Additionally, you can transfer your save files right from where you left off with God of War 2018 and God of War III Remastered.
God of War is just one of many PS4 games that will be receiving upgrades on PS5. If you’ve never played it, you can either buy it at your retailer of choice for about $20, or you can buy PlayStation Plus and play it with other titles, including Days Gone, The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4 and many more.
The PlayStation 5 will release in the U.S. on November 12. A sequel to 2018’s God of War, God of War: Ragnarock, will arrive sometime in 2021.
