Grand Theft Auto 5 is still one of the most-celebrated games to this day. The nearly decade-old (yes decade!) game has undergone update after update and the online play has expanded to nearly endless possibilities. It’s enough to make fans forget that this game is part of a series.
GTA 6 is quite literally a myth, with “leaks” and “information” spreading about the highly anticipated game faster than wildfire. This week, however, Rockstar continued feeding gamers the Oliver Twist-like scraps they’ve given us for the past few years.
According to reports, the new game will be set in a fictional version of Miami similar to the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City from 2002. Vice City was based on Scarface, and there is bound to be manic speculation on the inspiration behind the upcoming game.
A new report also suggests that there will be Hispanic female and male protagonists in the new edition.
This is the first time that there will be a female protagonist in the game since Grand Theft Auto 2 in 1997. The story apparently will be influenced by Bonnie and Clyde, which makes us wonder just how much breath will be in the GTA 6. According to tipster Tom Henderson, this game is, “not set in the 1980s and is modern.”
Rockstar Games has confirmed GTA 6 is in active development but there is no rush to release the game.
Back in 2013, Rockstar North head Leslie Benzies said, “We don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas. We’ve got about 45 years’ worth of ideas we want to do. We’ll pick the right ones. It comes from the idea first.
“Where it is going to be set is the first question,” she added. “That then defines the missions; you’re doing different things in L.A. than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.”
As of now, the only news on a release date is that the game won’t be ready until at least 2024.
