After Avengers: Endgame, the loss of our heroes disheartened us. Many fans, including me, still wish that the heroes we have loved since day one can come back to life and fight for us again. However, this ending was just another start.
Marvel soon announced its Phase 4 to expose their fans to a greater, more expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the project, we were first introduced more storylines of the heroes we’ve known so far; our hearts have ached with WandaVision and spirits thrived with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Now, Marvel seeks to bring more comic characters to the big screen, inviting the fans to the 7000-year-long journey of Eternals.
The Eternals are a group of immortals gifted with superhuman abilities, including, energy-blasting, flight, teleportation, telepathy and telekinesis – among others. Despite their powers, the Eternals have been living in shadow, secretly witnessing the growth of human civilization. But now, an unexpected tragedy forced them to reunite to fight against their lifelong enemies – the Deviants.
“It will be a story that introduces you to this incredibly eclectic group of immortals,” Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, said. “They are the focus of the story but it takes place in our universe. It takes place in the MCU so there will be mentions. You’re gonna learn certain things about it. But, yes, the Celestials go back a long. We heard about them. The Collector told us a little bit about a Celestial. We know Knowhere is the severed head of a Celestial. We know Ego was involved in all that but we learn much more about them and their agenda and what they’ve been up to.”
In addition to the fancy story, the cast of Eternals will also leave you in awe. Eternals features Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena; Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris; Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo; Salma Hayek as the wise and beautiful leader Ajak; Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos; Don Lee as the mighty Gligamesh; Lia Mchugh as the mischievous, physically young but old-soul Sprite; Lauren Ridloff as the super-speedy Makkari; Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig; Kit Harington as an excellent swordsman Dane Whitman; and Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi.
This amazing cast will be accompanied by the director Chloé Zhao, who just received the Academy Award for Nomadland earlier this year. We’ll get to see her magnificent work again with the official release of Eternals on November 5, 2021.
