Minecraft’s Steve & Alex Coming To Super ‘Smash Bros. Ultimate’

After teasing fans by revealing a new character was coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo unveiled the next fighter: Minecraft‘s Steve. That’s right, the main protagonist of Minecraft is making his fighting debut in Nintendo’s All-Star Crossover fighting franchise. But, Steve won’t be coming alone. Minecraft‘s Alex, his gender opposite, will join Steve, alongside the Minecraft Zombie and Enderman. As with other guest characters, the Minecraft roster will have their own stage based on the beloved franchise.

Steve’s Final Smash will involve pushing an opponent into a house filled with TNT and the explosives creepers, blowing them up until there’s nothing left but blocky ash. After the reveal, Smash Bros. director, Masahiro Sakurai, discussed how he and Nintendo added Steve and other guest characters into Ultimate while talking about how difficult it was with coming up with the move set for Steve and the rest of the cast from Minecraft.

Sakurai even announced that a full direct for Steve and the rest of the gang would be arriving on October 3. An official release date for the Minecraft cast to joining Smash Bros. Ultimate has yet to be released.

The last third-party character to join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was Joker of Persona 5 Fame.
