Ubisoft recently reported their first-quarter financial period report, explaining that they showed a higher-than-expected revenue. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Rainbow Six Siege led the pack for Ubisoft. More notably, the PC brought in 34 percent of Ubisoft’s revenue for this quarter. That puts them ahead of the PlayStation 4 and Sony.
Ubisoft has released the most AAA games this year, and has more planned for the upcoming calendar year. They noted that the PC was their primary ammo for this insurgence, and provided a ton of strength for their revenue
Meanwhile, Xbox One sales are slowing down ahead of their new next-gen console that is set to come out before next year’s holiday season. The project is currently codenamed Scarlett, and we have little to no information about the next-gen console.
“The 34 percent was pushed by Anno, which is a PC-specific game, but even with that launch, we had a very good performance on PC overall,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said, according to PC Gamer.
Anno 1800, an Ubisoft PC game that stands on the Epic Games Store, and is not currently on Steam, remains the powerhouse for PC Ubisoft games. “We did well with Anno 1800 on Epic, but the key point here is really that we continue to have very strong momentum on Uplay,” Frederick Duguet, the CFO of Ubisoft said, according to PC Gamer, about Ubisoft’s Uplay Store and its noteworthy performance.
“We can’t give much information on that because we have been with [Epic] for a short time now,” Duguet said, according to PC Gamer. “What we can say is we are working very well, hand-in-hand, to make sure we can grow sales directly now, between our Uplay Store, which is doing extremely well, and the Epic Store that is growing step by step. So overall, when you take Uplay and the Epic Store, we are very happy with what we are achieving.”
