Rumors have begun to circulate online of a possible Warner Bros crossover fighting game.
An anonymous Reddit post was the first to break the story, but the rumor has since been backed up by several trustworthy sources.
According to the Reddit post, the game is being developed by Netherrealm, the creators of Mortal Kombat and Injustice, who aim to create a Super Smash Bros. style crossover platformer fighter featuring Warner Bros iconic characters. The poster alleges that the roster will include:
Shaggy from Scooby Doo
Gandalf from Lord of the Rings
Tom & Jerry
Batman
Fred Flinstone
Mad Max
Harry Potter & Ron
Johnny Bravo
Trustworthy gaming journalist Jeff Grubb tweeted that the leak is real, but the game isn’t being made by Netherrealm.
Things continued to get interesting as more and more people came forward who seemingly had knowledge of the title. Professional Smash player Hungrybox came forward saying that he knows about the title. He claims that it will be free to play and have cross-platform connectivity, allowing people to play together regardless of what console they are on.
He later posted what appears to be a leaked roster for the game in a video on YouTube, which was taken down by Warner Bros.
The alleged roster includes different characters than the initial Reddit leak, including Rick from the popular television show Rick and Morty and Bugs Bunny.
Grubb also chimed in about the roster saying other characters are being planned as DLC, including basketball superstar LeBron James, who recently appeared in the Warner Bros movie Space Jam 2.
One Twitter user managed to find a trademark filed by Warner Bros for the title “Multiversus” which might end becoming the title for the game.
The game’s existence has yet to officially be announced, and no release date is known if the title ends up becoming a reality.
