Ever since the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home was revealed back in August, fans have been theorizing what other villains will be featured in the film. Now, we’ve learned that two more classic Spider-Man villains are joining the roster to face off against Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man.
Rhys Ifans’ Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man, and Thomas Haden Church‘s Sandman from Spider-Man 3 will be joining the growing list of villains in No Way Home, according to Empire. Images of the magazine posted on Twitter mention the two actors.
The magazine posted the subscriber cover for the No Way Home issue, which teases Sandman in the bottom right of the cover.
The trailer confirmed Alfred Molina‘s Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2, while also including teases to Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, who was already confirmed to return. There have also been rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are reprising their roles as Spider-Man as well, although Garfield has only denied those rumors, saying, “this is not something I’m aware I am involved in.”
There’s also the Venom 2 post-credits scene that shows Venom and Eddie Brock transported to what appears to be the same Earth as Holland’s Peter Parker. It remains to be seen if they’ll be a part of No Way Home also. Fans also got a fresh look at Doc Ock fighting Spider-Man. Holland has stated that the cast and crew are treating No Way Home as the “end of a franchise,” and it certainly seems like they are going out with a bang.
Holland will star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also returning as MJ and Ned, in Spider-man: No Way Home set to hit theaters on December 17.
