With ‘Rise of the Deceiver,’ The Wu-Tang Clan Returns To Gaming

The iconic 90’s hip-hop group, The Wu-Tang Clan, has just announced their new action co-op game, Rise of the Deceiver.

The announcement trailer was first released at Summer Game Fest 2025, an annual gaming-centered event designed to showcase digital events, demos, announcements and exciting news for video game fans, as well as being mentioned during The Wu-Tang Clan’s farewell tour, Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber.

The development began in 2022 and initially was created as a companion to Angel of Dust, an unreleased film produced by Ghostface Killah and directed by RZA.

Rise of the Deceiver: The Gameplay

Rise of the Deceiver follows a customizable character whose primary mission is to find the lost Wu-Tang Clan members. Players will navigate through a Staten Island-inspired, Shaolin neighborhood to fight the Deceivers, the main antagonist of the story, minions.

Brass Lion Entertainment, the developers of Rise of the Deceiver, stated that players will “Harness the powers of the Wu-Tang Clan to fight fantastical enemies through the Chambers of a surreal dreamworld.”

Players will explore the Afro-surrealist worlds of the Shaloin and the Medium, encountering new enemies with increased difficulty along the way, along with opportunities to enhance your character’s style with collectible jewels. Users can play solo or in a three-person party in online co-op.

In-Game Music

The Rise of the Deceiver soundtrack includes classic songs from The Wu-Tang Clan with a modern twist. Just Blaze, a legendary hip-hop producer who has worked with artists such as Jay-Z, Drake, Beyoncé and many more, crafted the score to acknowledge not only longtime fans but also newer generations.

During The Wu-Tang Clan and NAS’s 2023 world tour, N.Y. State of Mind, Method Man noted how The Wu-Tang Clan’s music has transcended through generations. “One of the things that struck us was the huge age range of people who were there,” he said. “You’ve literally got multiple generations of one family, and they’re all there, all knowing the words. So it’s not just us, it’s people’s kids now. And they’re just as in love with it.. Incorporating a new twist into the in-game music provides an exciting experience for players of all ages.

Rise of the Deceiver: Pre-Release

Rise of the Deceiver is available to be added to wishlists on Steam and Epic Games.
