‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ Latest DLC Features Well-Written Story But Poor Framrate
The new DLC in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now. In order to gain access to The Siege of Paris, you must at least have a power level of 2002 and have finished either the Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire lines. If the prerequisites are met, reload your game to receive an automatic invitation to Ravensthorpe, where your new adventure unfolds.
The first main mission is the battle between the Vikings and the French king, Charles the Fat. The Vikings join the grand feast held by the Danes and Eivor and later seeks to help combat the French army. Hesitant as she originally is, Eivor realizes that the growing monarch would potentially pose a threat to her clan in England one day, and therefore agrees to extend help. Nonetheless, when Eivor arrives in France, the situation turns out to be way more complex than she expected.
If an exquisite main narrative is not your focus in games, don’t worry. The Siege of Paris adds side quests and lots of hidden areas. There are more people to meet and kill, and there’s even a little bit of romance.
Another focus of this DLC is the return of “Black Box” missions, featuring large areas but one single target hidden within the space. You’ll have to explore the area to figure out how to one-shot your objective stealthily and effectively.
With all the beautiful features in this DLC, there lies a subtle flaw. The game doesn’t run at a pleasant framerate, which often drops below 60fps. Screen tearing and audio slowdown also constantly happen in certain areas of the map.
Hopefully, Ubisoft will release an easy patch improving this, though not deadly, but an irritating flaw.
