NBA 2K27 will arrive this September with a trio of cover stars spanning generations of basketball stardom, as developer 2K unveiled Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark and Derrick Rose as the faces of its three game editions.

Wembanyama recently signed a $252 million max extension with the Spurs after the loss in the NBA Finals.

Wembanyama takes the standard edition cover, marking the first time a San Antonio Spurs player has landed that spot in franchise history. The 22-year-old center earns the nod fresh off a season in which he became the first player ever to win Defensive Player of the Year unanimously. Clark, meanwhile, becomes the face of the deluxe edition and, in doing so, will be the first WNBA athlete ever featured on one of the series’ premium covers — a milestone reflecting the Indiana Fever star’s rapid rise in visibility since entering the league.

Rounding out the lineup is Rose, whose ultra edition cover marks his second turn as a 2K cover athlete, more than a decade after first appearing on NBA 2K13.

“It’s crazy looking back at being on the NBA 2K13 cover to now having my own edition for NBA 2K27,” Rose said in a statement accompanying the announcement, adding that he hopes the honor “inspire[s] young athletes to stay obsessed with the game” and shows them that “countless hours of hard work” eventually pays off.

Each edition carries its own price point and perks. The standard version featuring Wembanyama runs $69.99, the Clark-fronted deluxe edition costs $99.99, and Rose’s ultra edition tops the lineup at $149.99, with that top-tier version only available for purchase through September 6. Buyers who spring for either the deluxe or ultra editions also get early access to the game starting August 28, nearly a week ahead of the general public.

NBA 2K27 officially launches September 4 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. With three athletes representing the men’s game, the women’s game and a beloved veteran now enjoying his own dedicated edition, this year’s rollout signals 2K’s continued push to broaden who gets top billing on its boxes — and, by extension, whose stardom the franchise is betting will move units.
