Warcraft III
If you were a PC gamer back in the year 2002, you might just remember the game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. In a recent press release, Blizzard announced the game’s January 28 release date. If you observe in the game’s trailer released in November, the end of the preview states that the game would be released in 2019.
“Though we’ve been working hard to get Reforged in your hands before the end of the year, as we started approaching the finish line, we felt we’d need a little extra development time for finishing touches. As always, our goal is to honor the high standards you hold us to,” Blizzard stated in their press release to fans and those that pre-ordered the game.
During their extra time, Blizzard made sure to enhance the game’s trailer. Players expected the game to look and run similarly to the trailer. The actual gameplay, looks much worse than the trailer. The art style of the building and characters has changed. The bugs that haunted the game in 2002, haven’t been patched up. In fact, forums filled with gamers even went directly to Blizzard’s website, and demanded refunds.
Players aren’t even able to fully enjoy the online aspects of the game. Over 27,000 users of Metacritic.com reviewed the game too, and the average score for the game is literally a 0.5 , not even a whole 1 point. This might be due to many staff members of Blizzard getting laid off in 2019. Another reason could be that Blizzard – unlike other years – owns all user created content, meaning that the company can take a user’s map, even if the user has spent thousands of hours trying to design the perfect battle map.
