The 2005 RPG Guild Wars is getting re-vamped on December 3.
This week, ArenaNet and co-developer 2weeks announced Guild Wars Reforged for PC, a comprehensive bundle that contains all three campaigns from the original Guild Wars: Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall.
This new edition will also include new HD skill icons, high-DPI support for next-generation monitors, enhanced 3D environmental audio, greater font size selection for game text and a quest tracker that guides users to their next objective. There will also be ambient occlusion, enhanced bloom, and new antialiasing options to improve rendering.
The game will also be Steam Deck verified, meaning it is entirely compatible with the recent Steam Deck handheld gaming console. The game will also support XInput controllers. Guild Wars Reforged will be available on Steam or can be downloaded directly from ArenaNet at guildwars.com for $19.99. All current Guild Wars players will be updated with these features for free.
2weeks is a game developer that was founded by former ArenaNet employees in 2024. The shared enthusiasm for returning to this long-standing franchise united the two family-owned companies to create Guild Wars Reforged.
“It’s a real treat to revisit the original Guild Wars,” explained 2weeks co-founder Bandon Dillon. “Beginning as a teenager, I’ve been involved with this franchise from the very start, collaborating with the original studio founders to create the world of Tyria. Partnering with ArenaNet to update and improve the player experience means the game can continue to be a beloved beacon for fans of multiplayer online RPGs for years to come.”
Game director Stephen Clarke-Willson continued, “Even after two decades, we’re still passionate about improving the experience of the original Guild Wars for players. The game has a dedicated group of fans, and with this update to modernize the experience, we hope players new and old will find a reason to continue adventuring through Tyria together.”
