One of the earlier games released this generation, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, will be losing all of its online features by the end of the year. Announced on the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store and Steam, the game based on the Lord of The Rings franchise will have its servers shut down on December 31. As of this writing, WB Games has not released an official statement regarding this announcement. The following features will no longer be available after December 31:
• The Nemesis Forge feature will no longer be available. Therefore, players will no longer be able to transfer their in-game Nemeses from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor to Middle-earth: Shadow of War.
• Vendetta missions and leaderboards will no longer be available.
• WBPlay will no longer be available, but the epic runes “Orc Hunter” and “Gravewalker” will automatically be awarded to all players.
It should be mentioned that a few trophies and achievements are tied to the Vendetta missions, so if you have yet to unlock any of them, you have until the end of the year to do so.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was released on September 30, 2014. A sequel, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, was released on September 27, 2017.
