Amazon accidentally leaked the existence of an Overwatch-branded Nintendo Switch case last month, fueling speculation that the popular shooter would make its way to the platform. Some retailer listings have suggested the title was indeed Switch-bound, and Kotaku confirmed the rumor’s “veracity with two of [their] own sources.” Europe’s likely to score the game on Oct. 18 according to a retailer listing, while Kotaku posits the North American release will likely occur three days earlier.
Activision Blizzard’s now famous arena shooter hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC back in May 2016. We reviewed it upon its launch, praising its multiplayer components. While it’s currently unconfirmed when any of the pertinent parties will announce the Switch port, tonight’s Nintendo Direct seems like a likely outlet for the reveal.
Moreover, Nintendo fans have begun speculating about whether this could indicate if Tracer, who’s effectively the title’s mascot, is joining the Super Smash Bros. festivities. While this port in no way guarantees that will come to pass, our friends at Source Gaming produced a video (that I assisted with) delineating the content Tracer could bring with her should she make it:
