One of the most anticipated games that will arrive on next-gen consoles next year is Resident Evil Village. The upcoming installment in the survival-horror franchise will follow in the footstep of Resident Evil VII and focus more on classic survival-horror than the action that dominated Resident Evil 5 and 6. While Resident Evil Village is being made with the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in mind, the newest game may also arrive on the PS4 and Xbox One.
During a showcase of the new game, one of the game’s producers mentioned the chance of Village arriving on current-gen systems. “While Resident Evil Village is being developed specifically for next-generation consoles and PC, we’re looking into delivering the experience on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well,” said the Capcom producer during the stream. “We’re looking into it, but we can’t make any promises. However, we will do our best to bring a top-tier survival horror experience to current-generation consoles.”
The latest games in the Resident Evil series have been remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, with the last mainline game in the franchise, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, releasing in 2017. These games were released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, with the former receiving support for PS VR.
