The Democracy Space Station is finally activated in Helldivers 2 after players complete an important in-game mission. Its next course of action will be determined by the players.
On Nov. 11, a major order was announced to Helldiver 2 players from the game’s official X account. The message was regarding the development of the Democracy Space Station (DSS) as the time had “finally come to ignite the massive engines of the DSS.” However, the automaton Jet Brigade was “spotted gathering on Vernen Wells” which put the DSS in “imminent danger.” Players were instructed to “collect enough E-710 to activate the DSS and defend the station from the automaton advance.” This immersive in-game jargon translates to a message to gamers that the DSS was ready to be activated in the game, and they needed to defend the Station and kill enough intergalactic enemies to make it operational.
The players were successful in their mission, and two days later, on Nov. 13, the Helldivers 2 X account announced that the DSS “has been activated, ushering in a new era of Galactic Freedom. All Helldivers can now democratically direct this Weapon of Mass Liberation from the Galactic Map on their Super Destroyer.”
A Strohmann News clip attached to the post states that the Democracy Space Station was able to destroy a small moon during its first test fire and that the Station will now enter the beginning stages of operations.
The news broadcast describes that the DSS is “staffed by over 1.5 million personnel and costing more than one billion super credits per day to operate.” It is expected that the DSS will “make an immediate and significant impact to the Galactic War.”
Now, the future of the DSS is in the hands of the Helldivers as “the placement and usage of the DSS will be voted on by the Helldivers.” This means that within the game, players choose where the Station will move every 24 hours. The location of the DSS can determine the current action of the Station as well as the DSS Stratagem activation progress. This is a very interactive game mechanic and it will be interesting to see how players utilize this feature to progress within the game.
