‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’ Will Feature Free-Moving Camera For Switch

The HD remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will now include camera rotation options. This new version releases for Nintendo switch on July 16. The original The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword debuted in 2011 for the Nintendo Wii console.

The new feature was shown in a video tweeted out by Nintendo America on July 11.

In the video, it is clearly seen that the camera can be rotated. The original title did not feature this type of camera control due to hardware limitations on the Wii. The Wii version was controlled using a remote and a nunchuck, leaving only one available analog stick that was used to move in the game. This is an undoubtedly welcome addition that will allow for much easier navigation, and avoid situations where players cannot see into certain areas. This seemed to happen in the tighter spaces of Skyward Sword, and should no longer be a problem.

Nintendo also announced other “quality of life” updates for the title. One such feature is Autosave, which will prevent players from having to start over from much earlier if they forget to save. The HD version will also implement skippable cutscenes, the ability to fast-forward dialog and an improved framerate. Additionally, the game will now only show item descriptions on the first instance in which they are collected. The tutorial for the game was also improved, as shown in the video, and can also be skipped. The graphics, as suggested in the title, will also receive notable improvement.

Nintendo demonstrates that they are listening to fans’ feedback with these adjustments to improve the quality and ease of gameplay.
