Rep. Maxine Waters (D-California) has announced that Keith Gill, more commonly known as “DeepF-kingValue” on Reddit’s WallStreetBets forum, will be testifying before Congress alongside hedge fund managers and Robinhood CEO Vladimir Tenev during a hearing on the Gamestop stock fiasco in January.
“We’ll have the young man there from Reddit, his name is Keith Gill, who basically started this mania,” Waters told Cheddar TV. “We will hopefully have some hedge funds represented there. We’re going to make sure that we’re not taking sides.”
Gill, who goes by the alias “DeepF-kingValue” on Reddit also has a YouTube page where he goes by “Roaring Kitty.” He has hosted several live streams and video discussions about GameStop’s stock situation and is partially credited for popularizing last week’s buying avalanche.
Gill told the Wall Street Journal last week his initial investment into GameStop stocks was $50,000 and that it grew to over $30 million. Gill also reports that as the stock dropped off, he lost a potential $13 million.
