Former ‘StarCraft 2’ Pro Geoff Robinson Passes Away From Blood Clot
Former eSports StarCraft 2 pro Geoff Robinson, aka iNcontroL, died on Saturday “due to sudden illness,” according to Kotaku.
“With immense grief, we announce Geoff’s unexpected passing due to sudden illness Saturday. We ask privacy as his family works to understand what happened and make arrangements. To honor Geoff or offer comfort to his family, we suggest donations to @SoCalBulldog, which he loved,” a tweet said that was posted on Robinson’s social media account.
Robinson was a former PC StarCraft 2 pro with the team Evil Geniuses (EG). Evil Geniuses is a massive eSports team that covers multiple games across different platforms. After playing pro, Robinson went to commentate and stream other games, and will be honored as a prominent figure in the growing eSports community.
Sean Plott, an eSports commentator and friend of Robinson, tweeted, “I’ve known Geoff for almost 20 years. We played Brood War in high school & college and did years of SC2/BW events together. Geoff was a one-of-a-kind person. I’ll miss you man. I’m so sad.”
It was later understood that Robinson passed painlessly after a blood clot was in his lungs. He was with his friends.
Back in 2013, he suffered from a blood clot in his lower leg, and his ex-wife explained that, “after learning that extensive sitting could contribute to clotting, the first thing he did was tell his friends and community, urging them to get up, walk, and stretch often. He wanted to share and protect by example. You probably remember his diligent ‘get up’ breaks on stream,” Robinson’s ex-wife Anna Prosser said, according to Dexerto.
The statement from Robinson’s official Twitter links to the Southern California Bulldog Rescue organization, a non-for-profit rescue group that is dedicated to rescue homeless English Bulldogs. The SCBR is an organization Robinson supported avidly. The site to send a donation is linked here.
